What is a Life Group?
-
- Life Groups are small groups of individuals/couples that meet on a regular basis to build long-term relationships and mutually encourage each other in Christ.
How many people are in a Life Group?
-
- Generally groups will contain 10-14 people. Once a group starts to grow beyond 14 members, the group will multiply in order to create a new group for others to join.
Why limit the group size?
-
- Keeping these groups small allows members to build a greater depth of relationship with the others. A small group size ensures everyone has an opportunity to be heard, seen, and contribute to the group. It increases accountability, and improves connection.
How frequently do Life Groups meet?
-
- We encourage groups to meet monthly, but understand that life gets hectic sometimes, and there may be times when your group needs to pull back a bit. While a monthly schedule is ideal, we ask that groups meet at least every other month to really live life together.
Who leads Life Groups?
-
- Every group has a leader and assistant leader from the congregation. Leaders may be men or women or couples. The leaders provide support to the group members, and are a direct connection to the church leadership should the group need to seek counsel or need support beyond the group’s ability. The leader is not charged with being a biblical expert or teacher, nor are they a host; but rather a facilitator, keeping the group organized and moving forward.
What happens at a Life Group meeting?
-
- Under the direction of the leader, each group has the autonomy to decide their “group style.” Groups may choose to start with a time of fellowship, followed by a meal, and then prayer. Others may include a time to reflect on the Sunday message, or play a game, or some other activity. It is all up to the group. All Rebecca Creek Baptist Church Life Groups contain 4 consistent elements: Loving care for each other, Intercession, Fellowship, and Encouragement.
When and where do Life Groups meet?
-
- Groups meet throughout the Spring Branch, Bulverde, and Canyon Lake communities; typically in homes all throughout the month.
Why join a Life Group?
-
- God designed us to be in relationship with one another; encouraging, caring for, praying for, and challenging each other. Life Groups enable each member of the church to build a strong, reliable community of believers. This relational and spiritual strengthening prepares the body to go out and reach others. Ephesians 4:1-16.
